Jay Scherer

Principal

Mr. Scherer is a principal at 3.5.7.11, where he is responsible for overseeing all phases of investment transactions as well as post-acquisition management and operational improvement initiatives within portfolio companies. Leading the Energy and Infrastructure vertical, Jay assumes Board responsibility across multiple holdings and works directly with our Operational Partners to direct company specific and aggregate portfolio strategy and profitability.

Prior to joining 3.5.7.11, Jay worked in multiple facets of investment banking including M&A with Edgeview Partners and Asset Backed Securitization within BB&T Capital Markets. At BB&T Capital Markets, Jay completed 20+ securitizations of esoteric asset-backed securities totaling over $1.5 billion in notes ranging from AAA to unrated across various consumer asset classes including student loans, credit card receivables, truck leases, sub-prime auto loans and timeshare loans.

Jay received a Bachelor of Arts from University of Virginia, a Degree of International Business from the Mountbatten Programme and a Masters of Business Administration from the Darden Graduate School of Business where he was distinguished with the award for Academic Excellence.

A lover of music and outdoors, Jay spends his spare time pursuing a variety of mountain, water and sport activities and attending regular concerts including an annual pilgrimage to New Orlean’s Jazz Heritage Festival. Jay is also a lifelong fan of Washington DC’s sports teams and continues to avidly support them all, including the less successful ones.
